And just like that, the house is transformed; within the span of a long weekend, the seasons change.
Though the calendar says it is autumn at least until December 21, the day after Thanksgiving really takes us from the end of fall to the beginning of ‘The Holiday Season.’ And with that turkey and dressing gives way to trees and trimming.
In the Town of Farragut, all you have to do is watch for the banners to change to signal this seasonal change is upon us. In fact, the transition is ongoing, even as we speak with some of the banners showing the autumn look and others having already been switched to reflect the holidays.
The signs of the changing season are in full force.
And at the House of Gary, our signal is the moment is when we deck the house in the traditional cardinal red and hunter green - the wreaths and bows that serve as our signature seasonal look outdoors with candles in the window to add a warm glow.
Indoors, we’ve spent the rest of the holiday weekend decorating bookcases, mantles, and cabinets…all of which leads to the highlight of the annual makeover - the lighting of the trees.
I love the look of our house this time of year. We have a very traditional home with classic features. It lends itself quite well for the splendor of the season and the traditions of our family.
I hope your holiday season is off to a good start as well however you choose to ring it in.
