On this Veterans Day, 2014, I’d like to give a shout out – along with heartfelt thanks – to a number of people in my life who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Many thanks, sincere and heartfelt thanks, to you all for your service:
To my dad, who served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the 1950s.

To my best friend, Ed, who served in the United States Air Force.
To my cousin, Mike, who also served in the Air Force.
To my many uncles who, also, served in various branches of the service.
To my sister’s friend, Nancy, an Air Force veteran; to my grad school colleague Scott, who served in the Coast Guard.
To my former co-worker Bob; to my former baseball coaching cohort, Bryan.
To my childhood friends, Joe and Lewis.
To the several other fellow FHS alums.
To my ancestors who - as I learned through my genealogy research - served in the Civil War…one a POW; one lost at Gettysburg and to Lisa’s ancestors who were also Civil War veterans.
To all these brave veterans and to thousands (millions) of others I give a shout out on this Veterans Day; with heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude for your service to our beloved nation.
