Blue Shirt Week

So, I think we established some time ago that my wife likes the color blue.

And because she likes the color blue, she frequently purchases blue shirts for me to wear. My closet is full of them.

Button-downs. Polos. Stripes. Solids. Plaids. Blue shirts? I got’m.

Last weekend, as we were doing laundry, we renewed the joke between us about how I could use a few more blue shirts. And, as a punch line, she asked the question: Would it be possible for you to wear a blue shirt to work every day?

The answer, of course, is yes. And thus, the idea for Blue Shirt Week was born. (Lisa is a big plaid fan, too. So, let the record show that if appropriate, I could also fully participate in Plaid Shirt Week as well).

As a disclaimer, I realize a blog focusing on my wardrobe is a rather light-weight topic.  So be it. There is plenty of heavy news going on in the world and it is well-chronicled on other platforms. So, today, I’m going to write about shirts.

As the weekend wound down, I started thinking about which of the blue crew would make the cut.

For Monday, I had to go old school. Blue oxford button down. Same kind of shirt you would have seen me wearing when I graced the classrooms of FHS as a teenager or when I frequented the Hallowed Halls of ol’ UT. Tried and true. Classic.

On Tuesday, I switched things up and went with the non-button down royal blue (with the dark blue buttons). It’s probably about as chic as it gets in my closet.

Wednesday’s selection is probably Lisa’s favorite of them all: the thick, crisp light blue with stripes. This is often my go-to shirt for certain special events. In fact, you can see it on display in this photo from our vacation. I wore it the night we saw “Once” in London in the West End.
 

Today is an ode to Choppers with a dark navy selection that hints of our champion jerseys. For tomorrow, I think I’ll go with the blue plaid. And the beauty of that decision is I have two possible choices! I could go with one, spill soup all over it and then have a spare!

I assure you, I don’t usually give that much thought to the shirts in my closet. I’m lucky to have a nice combination of comfortable and professional shirts and that suits me fine.

But, it was kind of fun this week to take up Lisa’s challenge. After all, I think she likes it when I wear a blue shirt!
