New Year’s Day

Hog jowls and black eyed peas. Resolutions and Reflections. Bowl games and buffets.

However you choose to mark New Year’s Day 2013, I hope you have a good one.

On Capitol Hill, I guess our lawmakers are trying to stave off the ramifications of the so-called “Fiscal Cliff.” Doesn’t sound like my idea of a fun way to spend New Year’s but, here’s hoping they work things out so we’re all able to enjoy the new year.

We don’t have a lot of New Year’s traditions. One thing we seem to do every year on January 1 is to hear the U2 anthem, “New Year’s Day.” I’m not sure how that got started, but now that we’ve done it many years, it seems a shame to skip it now.

Of course, we’ve heard the song played live by U2 a number of times - most recently when the four of us attended their concert in Raleigh, NC on the U2 360 tour in 2009.

As for this New Year’s Day, I hope it is a good one. I hope it is the start of a truly wonderful year for you.

For us, the year promises to be a full, rich one with lots of interesting activities to come.
