Snippets…

Lots of stuff going on in lots of different areas of life right now…

Cold Weather
I had a realization this weekend. The cold feels colder when you’re used to it being warmer.

And here’s another one.

In the summertime, when the heat is stifling, you’d give almost anything for a cool breeze but you never get one. In the winter, when the weather is cold, there is always wind…to make it colder. And one other note. The wind ALWAYS blows in your face…regardless of the direction you’re walking.

The last couple of days, Roger has asked to go outside many times. He goes out. Takes two steps. Then, he changes his mind, turns around, and comes back inside.

Then, he goes back to resume his nap.

My Fair Lady Workday
Yesterday was the first parent workday for “My Fair Lady.” As I mentioned the other night, there was a great turnout; great volunteer support.

It felt good to be a part of that group.

It was also good to have ‘jacket truck’ back on the road. It came in handy for a hardware store run to pick up supplies and it felt good to be behind the wheel!

Memphis Tigers
Lots of positive coverage of the Memphis Tigers’ upcoming move to the Big East Conference in 2013-14. The Commercial Appeal had a great, comprehensive story about the University’s diplomacy with the conference to bring about the end result.

FPC Session
This morning, at FPC, there was a service of installation for the new class of elders. Some were ordained for the first time; others were recalled to active service. It was a wonderful moment in the life of the church - lots of warmth in that room.

As the new class of elders was installed, the outgoing class (the Class of 2012 - of which I am a part) completed its term of service. It has been an honor and a blessing for me to have had this opportunity serve my church.
