So, what, if anything, did we learn during this NFL Wildcard weekend? Well, really, it wasn’t so wild.
- Three of the four higher seeds held serve
- Seattle’s roll continues
- RG3 is a very tough man
And also, we saw:
- Indy’s cinderella season came to an end
- Ray Lewis is an incredible emotional leader for the Ravens
- Unlike past years, the #6 seeds this year weren’t that competitive
And with that, we move on to the Divisional Round. Houston’s slip-up during the last few weeks of the regular season now means they have to go on the road to face perennial championship contenders, the New England Patriots. That will be the late game on Sunday.
The early game on Sunday has Seattle is at Atlanta. Still, no one still gives the Falcons any respect. I haven’t seen any point spreads yet but I would not be totally shocked if Seattle comes in as a slight favorite.
I wonder if the Seattle team stays on the East coast somewhere as it prepares for that game rather than making a cross-country trip home tonight and a return trip across three time zones next weekend?
The Saturday match-ups Divisional match-ups have the Broncos hosting the Ravens in the afternoon. Then, at night, the Packers are at San Francisco in a rematch from Week 1. Really, it is a match-up that feels like a trip back in time to the 90s when they staged some classic games.
So, the pairings are set. We’ve seen a field of 12 teams trimmed down to eight. We’re all ready to follow as they take the next step toward New Orleans and Super Bowl XLVII (even as the BCS prepares to crown its champion in Miami tomorrow night).
