It's...MTSU

I’m sure to find out a lot about Blue Raiders over the next four years. Paul has made it official It’s…MTSU.

Over the course of the last two years, a number of colleges and universities have popped up on the radar. For example, at the college fair that FHS hosted during Paul’s junior year, he stopped by the Dartmouth table.  As ‘the parents,’ this has been an interesting process to follow.

At various times, he looked into elite New York theatre schools and quickly dismissed them.  Then, he finally got the list down to 10 manageable finalists, many of them in state and most of them within the southeast region.

At one point, he crossed off one school and then added another (so he was back at 10). Then, systematically, he began to trim the list down to a Final Four (appropriate for colleges, no?) and eventually three finalists that he really closely inspected.

In January, we visited UNC School for the Arts in Winston-Salem (while we were in town, I had the chance to visit with Ed, who lives near-by). Then, in February, he and I drove to Belmont. We enjoyed our visits at both of those schools but in the end, their ‘offers’ to Paul didn’t measure up to the one he got from…MTSU.

Tonight, like so many other high schoolers firming up their decisions, Paul signed the paperwork and donned a ballcap to signal his collegiate choice. He liked the cap. He likes the choice.

And it’s a good choice.

Paul had a great experience at MTSU when he was on campus last summer for the Governor’s School for the Arts. It was a good experience. It is reasonably close. And it’s familiar.

He got a nice email note from one of his directors recently, after the News Sentinel published some information about The Bijou Awards. I think it felt good to realize that he still had that strong connection.

So…at the end of the day, he’s going to be a Blue Raider.  Nice choice.
